The Black Brians are a 2-man rock band in New York. The two men are Beau Alessi and Joseph Fontana. The Black Brians have self-released 3 albums so-far: ART in 2004, Sweet Lady H in 2005, and Yer Dead in 2006. Lots of free samples on the mp3 page if you want to hear what each album sounds like. It's said that we resemble Big Black or early Ween, if you're into that sort of thing. We wrote most of the first album in High School, played at parties and open mics, etc. During college we managed to get more experience gigging, added a drum machine to our guitar-and-bass lineup, and recorded the first album. ART was released in the summer of 2004 and that lead to a lot of gigs in New York. We used the internet to sell albums, which was great. The second album, Sweet Lady H, was a step up from ART - similar style, but fresher songs that weren't written in high school. In November 2005 we finished that album and played a series of legendary, blistering sets at Otto's Shrunken Head on East 14th street. We've always dabbled in building our own instruments, but we hadn't used them on an album until we began working on the third album, Yer Dead. Joe built The Devil's Dulcimer, a fretless guitar/bass hybrid, and Beau built The Peacemaker, a seven-foot beast of an instrument with quarter-inch construction cable on a basspickup. We decided to use these to make the loudest album imaginable, and we did. Yer Dead was finished in 2006, and that Summer we played some great shows with Hey Hey Bon Bon from Kyoto, Japan. The album's official release date is Friday, October 13th, 2006.
